Strategic Partnership KA229 “European
Scholar Congress on Environmental Issues” (ESCEI)
The environment is a living system and it represents a
didactic educational field that offers unlimited possibilities for approaching
and training proposals. The environment around our home, the neighbourhood we
live in, all represent the space where we spend most of our time. Everyone can do
something, in a personal way, to improve our living environment.
School can have an important role. The opening of the
school to the territory, a key element of the transition from a centralized
school to one inserted in its own local reality, is, in fact, specific ground
for environmental education and can launch projects that allow us to get to
know our own territory, establishing with it a sense of belonging.
“European Scholar
Congress on Environmental Issues” is a transnational
project in which we, the partners, can share our experience among us, we can learn a
lot from each other, improving our local projects, putting them together and
creating a big one as a result of our cooperation. As we have said, environment
is a global problem, and all together we would be able to do more for our
environment than alone.
The objectives of the project are:
-
to improve both students
and teachers’ foreign language competences: the only way of communication among
students and teachers will be English;
-
to improve students
mathematics competences: students will have to analyse data and create
graphics; the goal is to make them competent to receive information and analyse
it in order to come to their own conclusions;
-
improve students and
teachers’ communication skills: communication is vital in the current digital
era, we expect to improve oral and written
communication skills by participation in videos, lectures, reports contained
along the activities planned in this Project;
-
study science in context:
if you can touch it, experiment it, use it, then, you can learn it in an easy
way. This project must allow partners to elaborate practical lessons to teach
science to the students;
-
consolidate PBL
methodology at school: knowledge is important, but most important is knowing
what to do with it. So PBL allows teachers to work together designing
multidisciplinary projects where every subject contributes to a higher
knowledge (innovation). This project has to contribute to create at least a new
PBL project on each partner school;
-
get collaborative work
environment where every student has an expert role because all of us we are
good in some field so, all us have an important job to deliver to the team
(social inclusion and open education).
Pupils taking part mainly in this project will be aged
12-14. They will be accompanied in this challenge by teachers experts on
science, maths, technology, English, language, music, arts&crafts and
social science.
ESCEI (European Scholar Congress on Environmental
Issues) is a Project created to exchange good environmental practices among
different countries, giving consciousness about this global issues (it is not a
local problem but a global one) and making students primary actors about the
transformations our schools need to be better bioclimatic work spaces
throughout their improvement proposals.
Environment is our home and it is our responsibility to
take care and act in order to contribute to its conservation.

so much. » -Helen Keller
