Duration:  1st – 5th of April 2019

Tuesday – 2nd of  April 2019

On the second day, the students were involved in many activities. In the morning, they were challenged to take part in the contest “The Bulb of the Future”, organised by Mrs Cristina Dima, the ICT teacher. Divided into international teams, they had to answer the questions of a quiz about light and sources of light, to design the “Lightbulb of the future” and to write a message to make the people aware about the importance of limiting  all kinds of light pollution. The winners were “The Pickles”. The jury agreed that it was difficult to choose only one winning poster and message, so all the teams had been awarded certificates and stickers.
The next activity was an artistic one. The students and their teachers were challenged by the Music teacher, Mr. Adrian Imbrea, to learn a traditional Romanian song (Fata de păstor) and to sing it together. They accepted the challenge and, in the end, they learned the lyrics and sang altogether. The Music lesson continued with a song which can be considered the hymn of the project, “Dear Planet!”. The tune was an older composition of Mrs. Ana Simion, a former teacher at our school, and the lyrics were composed, translated and adapted by Tudor Laic, another student involved in the project.  It was sung by Sabrina Aniculaesei. The students and the teachers were given the lyrics and encouraged to sing along with Sabrina.
This activity was followed by another artistic way of expressing light: Arts and Crafts. First, the students were given bowls, plastic gloves, pieces of cloth and encouraged to mix the concrete powder and water and to create some candleholders.  After that, they were challenged by Mrs. Elena Antochi, an artist and a former teacher at our school, to imagine and represent light through painting. This was another challenge, even for the teachers, who were encouraged to paint, too. The pictures show the fact that everybody enjoyed expressing themselves artistically, in so many different ways.
